• Rock a bye Baby on the Tree Top

A baby shower theme of Rock a-bye-baby on the tree top is what we finally decided on.  We both loved to read and enjoy the outdoors.  Even though my husband did not attend I still allowed him to be a part of the planning process.  I must give him credit, he had good ideas that we used.  Of course there were a few disagreements here and there but we weathered through it like the old spruce in our backyard.  We decided to have the baby shower after our Baby Girl was born.  We wanted her to be able to be there and look back upon how many hugs and kisses she received that day!

We used Meyer Spruce as our tree seedling favor because they offer a rusty-purplish hue when they are dormant.  We placed them in covered formula cans.  I wanted texture and tones; to offer a feeling of warmth, a natural vintage inspired style.  After they indulged their tasting senses with chocolate, vanilla, and amaretto cupcakes, they took their tree seedling favors home to plant indoors until spring.

Rock a-bye-baby on the tree top,

When the wind blows the cradle will rock,

When the bough breaks the cradle will fall,

And down will come baby, cradle and all.

This nursery rhyme/lullaby is slightly disturbing if you take it word for word, but it still whispers a sweet melody.  I decided I would add another line and whisper it into Baby Girl’s ear after the original Rock a-bye-baby.  “You will always be mommy and daddy’s sweet rag-a-muffin doll” and “We would never let you fall”.

    Always,

    Edie

You outdid yourself with this “tree” idea…not to mention the pictures which are worth a million bucks in my book. Brilliant! Talk about cuteness overload LOL.
